Actually, I'm thinking of changing the name of my blog to Nerd Mom. I like it. It might be taken though. Because it's so cool.
My kids don't watch Zoe 101. Not because I so carefully screen what they watch. Not because I'm some kind of conservative nut who hates TV. Mostly they don't watch it because I limit how much they watch and they would have to trade in a show that they already watch to be allowed to watch it. I don't see them giving up Full House anytime soon. (Do you see the hints of nerdiness already?) I might not let them watch the show though, even if they requested it because it might be a little too old for the four year old. Unfortunately for the other two, if it's too old for Abby, they aren't likely to find a time when they can watch their show without her around. I had to cut them off of Hannah Montana because Abby has enough sassy in her naturally. We don't need the added ingredients.
Now the star of the show is pregnant at 16 and loads of people (I've heard them myself) are flipping out. I'm not here to pass judgement on the pregnant girl or the people flipping out. I'm here to say, "Nerd mom dodges another bullet! My kids don't even watch the show! No big discussions or decisions for us!"
So, yeah, nerdy is good. Saves you a lot of trouble.

LOL! I've been under the radar for years for being a nerd. I'm glad it's working for someone else.
First of all - I don't like to consider you a nerd... I consider you cool challenged.
Second - If I were you, I'd keep my kids away from anyone with the last name of Spears. In fact, you might want to remove pickle spears from your home. And fishing spears.
Third - If you somehow think that the girls on Full House aren't sassy... you're living in a dream world. I had to outlaw it at 3 jobs because the girls suddenly started back talking and behaving like little prima donnas. UGH! Although Abby is more likely to take after Uncle Jessie, so you might be okay.
Remember when we were living in Barnes and didn't have a TV and none of us even REALIZED it until someone else asked where it was?
LMAO!!! Talk about nerds!
Although I DO miss living in Barnes and hanging out with you... I do not, nor will I EVER, miss slamming my head against your damn loft every time I walked into your room!
BTW... remember when the "crisis of the day" was that the power had gone off during the night and folks wanted me to wake you up at 7:30 in the morning so that YOU could wake up the folks who had 8:00 classes? yeah. right. Go back to bed you fools!

That's funny that you say that about Abby taking after Uncle Jessie because it wasn't the girls on Hannah Montana that she was talking like- it was the brother!
I must be a nerd mom too... Blake isn't allowed to watch ANY TV on school nights. And the only computer games he can play are the ones through his school's website.
He lost all of his PS2 games last year because he couldn't control his anger while playing them and would literally DEMAND that his dad get him past a certain point in some of them.
I also ask him at least once a month if anyone has offered him drugs, cigarettes or tried to touch him inappropriately.
Yeah... I'll gladly join your "Nerd Mom Club" :)

I am NerdMom! I totally understand about sassy kids and limiting kids exposure to it. We have the rule that if you do bad things (in word or deed) that you see on tv, you will not be allowed to watch it.
